Everybody needs some time on their own.
But Axl Rose spent way too long with musicians with silly names, such as Buckethead, Bumblefoot and DJ Ashba, and not enough with musicians who sound like biker’s dogs, Slash and Duff.
Last year, the notoriously difficult Guns N’ Roses frontman finally reunited with two-fifths of the legendary Hollywood hard rockers — Izzy Stradlin and Steve Adler didn’t join the party — for the marathon Not In This Lifetime world tour.
While Rose and ring-ins played Perth Arena in 2013 and Gunners played Sydney and Melbourne in 1988 and 1993, nothing approaching the classic line-up had ever rocked this city.
Thus 35,000 WA fans at Domain Stadium on Tuesday night had a serious appetite for destruction. And Guns N’ Roses had a winning rock’n’roll meal deal. Mostly.
