No Double Allotment of Flats: Bombay High Court

April 11, 2012. On Tuesday the Bombay High Court said that no one should be allotted more than one flat. The state government was asked to produce a list of cases of double allotment of flats by Bombay High Court under the Chief Minister’s discretionary quota.

 

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by activist Ketan Tirodkar alleged that there are many allottees who have been allotted second flat in the name of a spouse or family members of the allottee. He also accused the journalists and politicians of being the main beneficiaries of this allotment under the CM’s discretionary quota. Tirodkar further justified his accusation by giving examples of journalist couples having been allotted separate adjacent flats which they got in their individual names.

 

The PIL was being heard by a division bench comprising of Justice Sharad Bobde and Justice Mridula Bhatkar of Bombay…
