Posting before and after pictures to Reddit, poster Alice_In_WanderLust explained how sh did it.
She told followers that she is 5’3”, and at the start of her journey she was 168 lbs (12 stone), and she has now slimmed down to 128 lbs (nine stone one pound) – a loss of 40 pounds, or two stone and eight pounds.
Impressed with the pictures, one person asked her how she did it, and she responded: “First few steps were getting out of a decade long abusive relationship, finding the right therapist, getting on the right medication, then finding a reason to wake up every morning, then realising that reason should be me, finally. That took around six months.
“The rest is good old fashioned CICO (calories in, calories out) – I took up running again, signed up for races to motivate myself.
“I run four miles every other day, and I try to do body weight/free weight training at home the days I don’t run.
“Nothing fancy regarding food – I’m lazy and I don’t have a lot of time, so I found five really fast, healthy, recipes that I alternate during the week so I can stay within my calorie limits.
“I live in a big city, so I walk everywhere and never use to subway, because 20 blocks feels like nothing – I aimed to get anywhere from 20-30K steps a day (30K includes my run). Purged my house of snacks, any junk food to resist temptation.”
She revealed that she had also lost large amounts of weight in the past, but this time was different.
Explaining why, she said: “I think the biggest difference I found between this time and any other times I tried to lose weight was that I am so much more active – not just exercise, but trying to be on my feet and not spend more than 30 minutes sitting.
“Like if I’m watching a video on my phone or using my phone for an extended time, I forced myself to walk in a circle around my house as I was using it – this way, I wasn’t being a couch potato and losing mindless hours sitting and I was being active and I’d put down my phone quicker…
